Slow Dance – Poem

Slow Dance

by David L. Weatherford

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask “How are you?” do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
‘Cause you never had time to call and say “Hi”?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away…

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Steve Job’s Speech to Graduating Class

Steve Job’s contribution to our lives include, the Apple Computer, Pixar movies, the iPod and the iPhone.
He shared his empirical truth with a graduating class at Stanford University in June 2005.

His lessons in life include:

  1. Life makes sense looking backward, not as it happens. Have faith that difficulties in life will make sense in the near future, not in the present. The best you can do is live life the best you can.
  2. Find your passion and do it.
  3. Live life as if its your last day.

Happy Life

If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.

Finding one’s truth

Some people create their own truths.. and live in a delusion
Some people adopt other people’s truth.. and are afraid to question it..

What matters is the actual truth… and it is only available to the brave few who challenge and question and arrive at the empirical truth.

Mankind is driven by fear, habit, rewards and conformity.

Interesting quote i found recently. How true. Perhaps there is a reason why we evolved to be such.
Fear enables us to avoid danger.
Habit enables us to act knowing the favorable outcome.
Rewards enrich our lives.
Conformity enables us to belong into a society, ensuring our survival.
